Missives from Gender Critical Faerie Land
If you are to believe gender critical thought leader Helen Joyce, Rachel Fletcher was fired by Northumbria Police department “after opposing a policy that allowed male officers to forcibly search female detainees.”
If you dig very deep (by deep, I mean read the news story about her firing) you’ll see that Fletcher is accused of:
-
saying “The only way to stop night time rapes is to put a 9pm curfew on all men.”
-
referring to trans women as “cocks in frocks”.
Det Cons Barbara Callaghan, who described how Det Cons Fletcher made the derogatory comments about trans people during a conversation about new search guidance, in January 2024."
PC Thompson described Det Cons Fletcher as an “outspoken feminist” and in his statement referred to previous comments she had made about transgender athlete and reality television star Caitlin Jenner. PC Thompson also said Det Cons Fletcher would regularly say she hated men, sometimes a few times a week.
Even though “gender critical views” have been ruled as protected, it doesn’t make this sort of abusive language legally protected; protection of belief does not extend to gratuitous, degrading slurs.
It was mentioned in the story several times that this conduct made multiple officers uncomfortable. This isn’t a story about a trans “gender critical” feminist being silenced, but of an officer that didn’t understand the boundaries of their job and their personal opinions.
